A car drove through the garage door of a single-family home on Skinner Road in Vernon Thursday morning and exited through an adjacent wall, WTNH reported. Fire officials secured power to the affected area and checked other utilities, while town Building Department personnel responded to assess the damage, the station said.
Emergency medical personnel assessed the driver at the scene, who did not go to the hospital, according to WTNH. Patch reported that no other injuries were reported and that Vernon firefighters, EMS and police responded.
A separate Connecticut home crash had a different outcome
The reported injuries and damage in Vernon differ from a separate crash in Branford on Nov. 23, 2025. WTNH reported that the driver and an elderly woman inside that home were taken to the hospital and that the house was deemed uninhabitable. The Branford incident is a comparison, not evidence about the condition of the Vernon home, which officials were assessing.
Reports on the Vernon crash have not detailed what caused the car to strike the house or the final extent of the building damage.
