Christopher's Café, the South Main Street spot known for turning a storage room into a working kitchen, is closing its Fall River doors this month as its owners prepare to relocate to a new city. The café's closure caps a nearly four-year run that began in March 2023 and included a string of attempts to expand around the city.

Exactly when the doors will shut depends on which outlet you ask. According to WJAR / NBC 10 News, the Fall River location will close on Nov. 25, 2026, per a Facebook announcement from the owners. But Fall River Reporter reports the café will close on November 26th, without specifying a year. Neither outlet has identified the new city, an address, or an opening date for the next chapter.

The café got its start at 1816 South Main Street, opening in March 2023 at the former site of Jeff's Ice Cream, the outlet notes. It was founded by Fall River native Christopher Silvia and his husband, Nathan Silvia, who built the business from the ground up, including, in their words, turning a storage room into a functioning kitchen.

A Bittersweet Goodbye From the Owners

In a statement signed by Christopher, Nate and Maddie, the owners described the move as a bittersweet goodbye and thanked customers for their support, according to the same report. They said the café meant more than just a business to them, reflecting on the past three years as they prepare for what comes next.

The owners thanked customers for being part of their story and invited them to join the next chapter, encouraging followers to watch the business's Facebook page for updates on the new location, concept and opening plans. No further details on the new city have been released.

A History of Expansion Attempts in Fall River

This isn't the first time Christopher's has tried to grow beyond its original storefront. The business opened a second Fall River location inside the New Boston Medical Center at 373 New Boston Road in March 2024, with a March 11 opening target posted in an update to Christopher’s Facebook page, per The Herald News.

A third location at 99 South Main Street followed in March 2025, but the report notes it closed just a couple of months later. Now, with the South Main Street flagship set to close this month, the café's next move will unfold somewhere outside Fall River, with details still pending from the owners.
