A late-night traffic stop near Airport Road and Printers Parkway in Colorado Springs spiraled into a chaotic scene early Sunday, with officers using a Taser to subdue one man and two women accused of attacking a police officer and a firefighter during the chaos that followed. Three people ended up in handcuffs, and a Colorado Springs Fire Department member and an officer both walked away with minor injuries.
According to The Gazette, officers were investigating a traffic incident at about 12:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of Airport Road when they noticed a disturbance at a nearby business. A separate account from KKTV, citing the Colorado Springs Police Department, places the time at approximately 12:34 a.m., a minor discrepancy between the two reports on an otherwise consistent timeline of events.
Police said officers approaching the scene found several people trying to get into a vehicle, including a man later identified as 19-year-old Samuel Pierre, who was carrying a tire iron. Witnesses told officers that Pierre had threatened a store employee with the tire iron just before climbing into the vehicle, the Gazette reports.
Standoff Escalates as Officer Is Attacked
Pierre was described by police as “noncompliant” and began resisting when an officer tried to take him into custody, the outlet's report states. As the struggle continued, a woman got out of the vehicle and joined in, allegedly attacking the officer who was trying to restrain Pierre.
Officers eventually used a Taser on Pierre to get him under control, and both he and the woman were detained at the scene, per the same account. Pierre was arrested and booked on a menacing charge, while the woman, identified as 19-year-old Erika Franklin, was arrested on a charge of assault on a peace officer.
Second Arrest Follows Attack on Firefighter
A second woman at the scene showed signs of acute intoxication, prompting officers to call for medical assistance, the report notes. While a Colorado Springs Fire Department member was evaluating her, she allegedly kicked the firefighter in the face.
That woman, identified as 18-year-old Brihanna Drewyor, was arrested on a charge of assault on an emergency medical services provider. Both the officer and the fire department member who were attacked sustained minor injuries, according to the station's report.
Latest in a String of Airport Road Incidents
The overnight arrests mark the second notable confrontation reported on the same Airport Road corridor in recent months. Hoodline previously reported that police accused 48-year-old Tamil Mitchell of forcing his way into a different business on the street after he had previously been trespassed from the location, allegedly threatening an employee who had taken shelter in an office and displaying a straight razor before he was detained. Mitchell faced felony menacing and burglary accusations in that case.
Despite these incidents, the broader crime picture in Colorado Springs has been trending downward. Commercial and residential burglaries across the city fell 19% in 2025, while overall property crime dropped 14%, according to figures Hoodline has previously reported.
No further details on the identity of the business involved in Sunday's incident, or the names of the officer and fire department member who were injured, have been released. The evidence available does not establish the eventual disposition of charges against Pierre, Franklin or Drewyor.
