The Richland County Recreation Commission plans to operate its Glide & Gather Ice Skating Rink at North Springs Park from Nov. 20 through Jan. 3, 2027. The outdoor rink will offer one-hour skating sessions during the holiday season.

The rink will sit on the tennis courts at North Springs Park, 1320 Clemson Road, according to WLTX. The Richland County Recreation Commission is billing the setup as a way to bring outdoor ice skating to the capital city for the holiday season, and tickets for the one-hour sessions went on sale Nov. 1.

Hours, Closures and What a Ticket Gets You

Regular hours run Wednesday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m., per the station's report. The rink will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and on Christmas Day, and the recreation commission says it plans to offer special holiday hours and family-friendly events throughout the season.

Everyone stepping onto the ice needs a ticket, the same account notes, and admission includes skate rentals as part of the price. General admission runs $15 for adults and $10 for children, while military admission — available with a valid military ID — is discounted to $12 per adult and $8 per child.

Anderson provides an earlier South Carolina holiday-rink precedent: the City of Anderson’s official Holiday Ice page lists a 2019 season running from Nov. 15 to Jan. 5.

Park setting and another seasonal rink

North Springs Park covers almost 30 acres and has sports fields, lighted tennis courts, a playground and picnic facilities, according to the Richland County Recreation Commission. Its park listing does not specify rink-related parking or other event arrangements. Greenville’s separate downtown Ice on Main rink is scheduled to return at Village Green from Nov. 18, 2026, through Jan. 18, 2027, according to the United Community Ice on Main website.

Buying Tickets and Getting Help

Tickets can be purchased online through the Glide & Gather ticketing website, and the recreation commission says it will post additional details and registration information online as the season approaches. Broader information about county recreation programming is available at richlandcountyrecreation.com.

Anyone needing accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act can reach the commission's Risk Management Office at 803-741-7272. With tickets on sale and the season set to run nearly seven weeks, families looking to lace up for the holidays have 45 calendar days to skate before the rink closes out its run in early January.
