Columbus is waking to partly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-50s Tuesday, with a brief taste of summer on the way. Sunshine will push the mercury to about 75 degrees by afternoon before a wet, windy weather change arrives Wednesday.
Tuesday Brings A Short Warm-Up
Tuesday should stay partly sunny, with south winds between 5 and 10 mph. The warm spell is a sharper update from Monday’s earlier forecast, which called for a slightly cooler afternoon.
Rain Arrives Wednesday Morning
Showers are expected to spread across the area Wednesday morning, with rain likely after 1 p.m. and a high near 70. Gusts could reach 29 mph, according to the National Weather Service, while daytime rainfall may total between a quarter-inch and a half-inch.
Thunder Possible, Then Cooler Weather
A few embedded thunderstorms could develop Wednesday, especially south of the Ohio River, though forecasters say the severe-weather threat should remain limited. Showers may continue Wednesday night, with another one-tenth to one-quarter inch of rain possible, before Thursday turns mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of rain and a high near 69.
Weekend Temperatures Settle Back
Friday brings mostly cloudy skies, a high near 66 and a chance of rain after 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday look cooler, with highs near 59 and 58, respectively, plus occasional chances for light rain before temperatures settle into the upper 50s Monday.
