Connie’s is planned for 654 Manhattan Avenue, a location on what the Greenpoint Manufacturing and Design Center describes as the neighborhood’s primary commercial corridor in its historical account. The address places the proposed café among Greenpoint’s existing storefront businesses, though that context does not establish how the new venture will fare.
Greenpointers reports that siblings Kate and Harry Koeppel plan to open Connie’s in the former Cato’s Army & Navy space next summer. The report describes an all-day café with a Paris-influenced approach and an American lunch-counter format. Its reported menu includes breakfast fare, pastries and coffee, as well as sandwiches made with house-baked bread.
Other Greenpoint food-business examples
The avenue has other documented restaurant activity, though the examples are separate projects rather than evidence of a broader trend. Brooklyn Magazine reported on Dec. 8, 2025, that Malaysian restaurant Kelang was operating at 715 Manhattan Avenue. At a different address, Eater NY reported that Kevin and Alexa Finch planned to open the neighborhood bistro Arthur at 132 Franklin Street on April 10. Those businesses differ from Connie’s in both location and concept.
The local record also includes closures: Eater NY reported that the separate Greenpoint bar Achilles Heel had its last night of service on Sunday, Feb. 8. That closure is not connected to Connie’s plans, and these individual openings and closure do not by themselves show a change in the neighborhood’s overall business pattern.
Greenpointers gives next summer as the opening window; its report does not specify a calendar date, hours or prices. The café’s stated menu and format provide an initial outline, while those operating details remain to be announced.
