Davis Jewelers broke ground Tuesday morning on a new luxury store along Terra Crossing Boulevard in east Louisville, marking the family-owned jeweler's move away from its longtime Lyndon storefront. The nearly 20,000-square-foot building will house an expanded showroom, a bridal salon and dedicated service centers as the company plants its flag in a fast-growing stretch of the city.

According to WDRB Wave, the jeweler traces its roots back to 1930, when it was founded in downtown Louisville. The outlet reports the new showroom will be more than double the size of the current retail space on Forest Green Boulevard, while InStore describes the new showroom as simply double the current footprint — accounts differ slightly on just how much bigger the space will be. InStore's report puts the overall building at just under 20,000 square feet, including a showroom of more than 9,000 square feet.

A Bigger Home for a Growing Business

Davis Jewelers plans to use the extra room for an expanded jewelry and timepiece collection, a diamond and bridal salon, an in-house watch service center, a jewelry service center and a custom design studio, per WDRB Wave's reporting. The station notes the business is relocating from Lyndon to east Louisville as part of the project. InStore adds that the new layout will span two levels, giving the flagship a vertical footprint it currently lacks.

Per InStore, the project team includes Buffalo Construction as design-builder, along with Joseph & Joseph Architects and retail designer Jesse Balaity. The same report states the new store is slated to open in Q3 2027 and will feature dedicated spaces for brand partners Rolex, Tudor, David Yurman, Breitling, Longines, Marco Bicego, Roberto Coin and John Hardy — a lineup that signals the scale of the company's ambitions for the site.

Customers Won't Lose Access During the Build

Davis Jewelers will remain open at its current location throughout construction, the outlet's report notes, meaning shoppers won't have to wait until the Terra Crossing store is finished to visit the jeweler. The Courier Journal previously reported the new location would sit near 2517 Terra Crossing Blvd., though an exact address had not yet been determined at the time of that report.

Why the Family Business Is Making the Leap

Henry “Hank” Davis, Davis Jewelers' president and CEO, said the move was unexpected but ultimately in the best interest of his business, according to WDRB Wave. “We have grown, and we want to make sure that we can offer clients and the community the best jewelry shopping experience truly possible,” Davis said, per the station's report. As detailed by Centurion Jewelry Show, the jeweler's roots in downtown Louisville date back nearly a century, making the Terra Crossing groundbreaking a significant chapter for a company that has called the region home for generations.
