A shooting in the 2300 block of Cleveland Place sent one victim to the hospital early Saturday, and Denver Police say they are still working to identify a suspect. The department issued an alert overnight confirming the shooting and the victim's transport to a hospital, but offered no further details on the person's condition or what led up to the violence.
In its post, the Denver Police Dept.
wrote, “ALERT: #DPD is investigating a shooting in the 2300 block of Cleveland Pl.” The department added that “One victim was located and transported to the hospital,” and said “Investigators are working to develop suspect information.”
No arrests have been announced, and police have not released a suspect description, a motive, or specifics about how the shooting unfolded. The department said it would share more as the investigation progresses, noting, “Updates will be posted to this thread when made available.”
Investigation Still Developing
Denver Police also cautioned that the facts they'd shared so far could shift as detectives continue their work. The department's post stated plainly that “The information in this post is subject to change based on investigative findings,” a standard disclaimer attached to its early shooting alerts while evidence is still being gathered.
That kind of caution is common in the earliest hours of an active investigation, when investigators are still piecing together what happened and who may have been involved. For now, the scope of the incident — including how many people may have witnessed it or whether anyone else was affected — remains unclear based on what police have released.
A Separate Case Shows How Denver Shootings Can Take Time to Solve
Denver investigations into shootings don't always move quickly, as shown by a case announced around the same time involving a shooting roughly two years ago. According to denvergazette.com, police arrested a man in connection with a shooting inside a home in the 500 block of West Jewell Avenue that took place on Dec. 4, 2024, shortly after 10 p.m.
In that case, the outlet reported that the Denver Crime Lab conducted forensic analysis alongside investigators, who ultimately identified 33-year-old Eduardo Marian as the suspect. He is now being held on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder, per the same report. The West Jewell Avenue case is unrelated to the Cleveland Place shooting, but it illustrates how long some Denver shooting investigations can take to produce an arrest.
As of now, no such resolution has been announced in the Cleveland Place case. Denver Police have not said whether they have identified any suspects or persons of interest, and the victim's identity and condition have not been made public.
