A fast-casual Indian restaurant chain that has been multiplying across the country is about to make its Florida debut in Lutz. Dum N Grill plans to open its first Florida restaurant in mid-November at 17669 N Dale Mabry Hwy, with company representative Bhanu Prakash Manduva telling Business Debut the Lutz spot will serve as the brand's starting point in the state.
Manduva said there is no firm opening date yet, even as the chain is targeting the second week of November, according to Business Debut, which first reported the Lutz plans. The restaurant will operate as a fast-casual eatery serving Indian cuisine with fusion dishes, and it won't be a one-off: Dum N Grill has several locations planned in the Tampa area, though the company has not signed additional leases beyond what's already in motion, per the same report. The chain is also in talks for other sites, Business Debut notes.
What's on the Menu
Dum N Grill's menu leans into the kind of spread that has helped it build buzz elsewhere: mandi, tiffins, and both vegetarian and non-vegetarian biryanis, along with a pizza-and-naan hybrid, according to the Business Debut report. The chain's own site describes the lineup in broader strokes, saying its menu brings together “aromatic biryanis, fire-grilled kebabs, comforting curries, and modern Indian favorites,” according to Dum N Grill.
The full menu posted on the company's website backs that up with specifics, including street-style fried rice and noodles that can be ordered with vegetables, egg or chicken, and a Dubai Famous Paratha Burger available with chicken or lamb. Weekend specials run Friday through Sunday in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian versions, the menu notes.
A Chain on a Fast Expansion Pace
Dum N Grill's Lutz plans fit a pattern the chain has followed all year. As of early February, just one location was open, in Texas, with nine more in the works, including two in Northern Virginia, per a report from theburn.com. Those Virginia sites were headed to both Loudoun County and Fairfax County, with the Loudoun location taking over a former Burgerim space at 25150 Loudoun County Parkway and a Fairfax County spot in the works at the Tysons Corner Center shopping mall, the outlet reported.
By early April, the chain had grown to four open locations — all opened within the previous three months, joining already-running spots in the North Texas suburb of Melissa, Bentonville, Arkansas, and Tysons, Virginia, according to a report from chron.com. That report also noted Dum N Grill's latest opening at the time, in Pearland, Texas, at 1910 Country Place Pkwy., #150, and said future locations were planned for Cantonville, Maryland; Chandler, Arizona; and South Riding, Virginia, among other places.
That expansion track record offers some context for the Lutz announcement, though the Business Debut report does not independently verify an exact opening date for the Florida location beyond the mid-November target Manduva described. For now, Lutz residents watching the Dale Mabry corridor have a specific address and a rough timeline to go on, with the rest of the Tampa-area rollout still taking shape.
