Two individuals were caught on a Dyer County homeowner's surveillance camera trying — twice — to get inside a residence on Katie Cove on a Monday night.

Camera Footage Sparked a Public Appeal

The case started when the Dyer County Sheriff's Office sought the public's help identifying two individuals caught on camera attempting to break into a home, according to the agency's own account of the investigation. As reported by WBBJ-TV, surveillance footage showed the pair attempting to enter the Katie Cove residence twice that Monday night. Investigators released photos of both individuals in hopes that someone in the community would recognize them.

Anyone who recognized either person was asked to contact Capt. Caldwell with the sheriff's office at 731-285-2802, per the station's report.

The Katie Cove case involved a public appeal for information and home-security footage of the attempted entries.
