Eastpointe police say undercover officers were offered sexual services during massages at B&W Comfort Spa on Kelly Road, prompting the city to post a yellow notice on the business's door declaring it could not legally operate. The spa sits inside a strip mall alongside a hair salon, a clothing store and a day care center, and neighboring business owners say the alleged activity there has persisted for years, even as ownership of the spa changed hands.

According to ClickOnDetroit, Eastpointe police sent undercover officers into B&W Comfort Spa and say those officers were offered sexual services as part of a massage. Police Chief Corey Haines told the outlet the business had been operating without a business license and showed a pattern of constant short-stay traffic, with men arriving and leaving shortly after. Haines said the spa was not supposed to be open at all, and police have since spoken directly with the owner and warned against continuing operations.

Neighbors Say the Problem Predates Current Owners

The complaints did not come out of nowhere. Nearby business owners told the station that suspected illegal activity and alleged sexual solicitation at the spa have been reported for years, surviving multiple changes in who ran the place. Stefani, who owns a hair salon two doors down, said the situation has dragged down the shopping plaza's reputation and left nearby businesses worried about the safety of their own customers.

Stefani told the station she wants the parlor shut down for good, and said she suspects the spa may be involved in trafficking young girls — a suspicion the station reported but that has not been independently corroborated. The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office has set up felony warrants for people who previously ran the massage parlor.

Owners Dispute the Reason for Closure

The spa's owners, speaking through a translator, pushed back on the city's action, saying they had passed an inspection and that this was not the reason their business was closed. That account has not been reconciled with the police chief's statements about the lack of a business license and the short-stay traffic pattern, and both versions are presented here as reported.

Eastpointe's Clerk's Office says it works with the Police Department to license specific types of businesses, including massage establishments, according to the City of Eastpointe. Under Michigan law, soliciting another person to commit prostitution or another lewd or immoral act can be charged as a crime, per Michigan's statute on accosting and soliciting. Separately, keeping or maintaining a place resorted to for prostitution or lewdness is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine under a related section of Michigan law. None of these statutes have been confirmed as the basis for the charges or warrants tied to B&W Comfort Spa.

Part of a Broader Crackdown on Kelly Road

The spa case is not an isolated move for Eastpointe police. The department has also sought to shut down other businesses, including a BP gas station and two smoke shops, after finding they were allegedly serving as fronts for drug sales. Haines said the smoke shops were selling THC products, THC-A products and suspected psilocybin mushrooms over the counter.

Eastpointe has been down this road with massage businesses before. In March 2024, police shut down a different parlor for the second time in three years after a wave of complaints; community members reported they were being offered sexual favors for extra money after their massages were finished, and an undercover officer who visited the business said he was offered sexual favors as well, according to the same station's earlier report. That case was referred to the city's building department for possible license revocation.

A separate Eastpointe massage parlor near Lister Avenue was shut down last April after two women were arrested for allegedly offering sexual acts to patrons, with an undercover male officer reportedly offered sex for money after requesting a massage there, per that same ClickOnDetroit report. And in the 2024 case involving Bella Touch Massage Parlor, police searched the business after customers reported being offered sexual favors following their massages, according to the Macomb Daily. The city's building department was reportedly working to revoke that business's license, and Fox 2 Detroit reported the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office was expected to review that case to decide whether charges would be filed against the owner or workers.

For now, B&W Comfort Spa remains under the city's closure notice while the warrants tied to its past operators work their way through the system. Neighboring business owners like Stefani say they just want assurance that the pattern seen at multiple Kelly Road-area massage businesses in recent years finally comes to an end.
