Raleigh is getting a distinctly un-November start Thursday: fog and mist around daybreak, a warm-up to about 80 degrees, then a much wetter turn by Friday. The early fog should thin after 8 a.m., but clouds will hang around and a stray shower or thunderstorm could pop up later.
Fog First, Then A Warm And Muggy Afternoon
Thursday's forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies, south to southeast winds of about 6 to 12 mph after daybreak and only a 20% chance of rain. Any showers should be light, with the better chance for an isolated thunderstorm arriving late in the afternoon and evening.
The National Weather Service in Raleigh expects temperatures to reach near 80, with little meaningful rainfall Thursday. No active watches, warnings or advisories are listed for the Raleigh area.
Friday Brings The Week's Real Washout
Friday is the clear trouble spot, with showers and thunderstorms likely from the morning into the afternoon, with widespread rain expected. The high should reach about 72 degrees.
Forecasters expect roughly a half-inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain, though heavier pockets could develop where thunderstorms track. A few storms may produce strong to locally damaging wind gusts or hail, with the greatest concern farther east and south across the Sandhills and Coastal Plain, so outdoor plans and the Friday commute may need extra flexibility.
Sunny Weekend Reset
Friday night's rain should clear out, with dry conditions afterward. Saturday and Sunday look to stay dry, and dry weather is expected into Tuesday.
The setup adds sharper timing to Hoodline's earlier Raleigh forecast: warm weather hangs on through Thursday, Friday turns wet and stormy, and the weekend brings the reset.
