DQ Hawaiian BBQ has opened its newest restaurant at 2770 E. Bidwell St., Suite 400, in Folsom, bringing loco moco, chicken katsu and kalbi short rib to a city that previously had to drive elsewhere for its island-style plate lunches. The restaurant is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and offers both dine-in and takeout.

According to the Sacramento Bee, the Folsom location opened in late October, giving DQ Hawaiian BBQ its third Sacramento-area outpost alongside existing restaurants in Elk Grove and Carmichael. The company describes its dishes as carrying a little aloha in every order, a philosophy the Bee's reporting traces back to the chain's roots. DQ Hawaiian BBQ got its start in Del Paso Heights in 2024, per the Bee, before growing into the broader Sacramento region.

What's on the Folsom Menu

The Folsom restaurant's own site, dqhawaiianbbq.com, lists Hawaiian BBQ plates, chicken katsu, musubi, family meals and catering as core offerings, alongside crispy fish and shrimp, loco moco and malasadas. The Bee's reporting adds more detail on signature dishes, describing classic grilled Hawaiian BBQ chicken, chicken katsu with sweet sauce, and a mixed BBQ plate featuring short ribs, chicken and barbecue beef. The menu also includes kalua pork, kalbi short rib and garlic shrimp, according to the same report.

Beyond the plate lunches, the restaurant serves American-style burgers and sandwiches, including a bacon cheeseburger, a double cheeseburger and a BBQ chicken sandwich, the Bee reports. There's also a Hawaiian burger built with grilled beef, bacon, lettuce, red onion, pineapple and a secret sauce. For something more traditional, the loco moco comes with a hamburger patty, brown gravy, a fried egg and white rice.

Part of a Broader Expansion

Folsom marks the company's latest move in a steady Sacramento-area buildout. The chain already operates a location at 9160 E. Stockton Blvd. in Elk Grove and another at 7423 Fair Oaks Blvd. in Carmichael, per the Bee's reporting. Earlier coverage from What Now Sacramento described that Elk Grove restaurant as the chain's second location, planned for Marketplace 99 South at 9160 E. Stockton Blvd., Suite 130, following the original Del Paso Heights debut.

The Carmichael restaurant followed a similar trajectory. What Now Sacramento reported it was slated for a roughly 1,700-square-foot space at 7423 Fair Oaks Blvd., Suite 9, designed for both dine-in and takeout, with planned hours matching Folsom's 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily schedule. That earlier report also previewed a menu heavy on chicken katsu, garlic shrimp, pork lumpia, cheeseburgers and a BBQ mix plate — largely the same lineup now showing up on the Folsom menu.

With three restaurants now open across Elk Grove, Carmichael and Folsom, DQ Hawaiian BBQ's own website confirms all three locations are running daily. For Folsom residents, that means a new everyday option for musubi, malasadas and a plate lunch that doesn't require a trip across town.
