A vacant, five-story building spanning more than 36,000 square feet at 34 North Jefferson Street in downtown Dayton is up for auction, with bidding set to close in December. The property once housed Club Masque, a nightclub that was a fixture of the city's downtown nightlife scene before it closed its doors.
The building's auction was reported by The Business Journals, which confirmed the structure's vacant status, its five-story height, and the more than 36,000 square feet it spans. The outlet also reported that bidding for the property closes in December, though specific terms such as a starting bid or reserve price were not detailed.
A Nightlife Spot That Once Searched for a New Home
Club Masque's downtown run ended years before this latest chapter. Back in January 2020, owner Luke Liakos was scouting a new location for the popular club, according to a report at the time from Dayton Business Journal. That same report noted the nightclub was closing its doors downtown, with ownership hoping to secure a new location elsewhere.
The building is currently vacant and now faces a new test on the auction market.
Public and private partners had invested more than $400 million in Greater Downtown since 2010, underscoring the scale of investment already flowing into the area even as individual properties like the former Club Masque building sit empty. Whoever ends up with the winning bid in December will inherit a sizable five-story structure in a downtown still working to fill its vacant core.
