An adult and two children were rushed to the hospital as trauma alerts Friday afternoon after a rollover crash on the Colonial Boulevard southbound I-75 on-ramp in Fort Myers. The Fort Myers Fire Department confirmed the crash and the trio's transport to area hospitals.
Fire Crews Respond To Ramp Crash
According to the Gulf Coast News and Weather, the Fort Myers Fire Department said the rollover on the ramp sent the adult and both children to the hospital as trauma alerts, a designation reserved for patients with potentially serious injuries. The outlet's report included footage of a tow truck loading a crashed SUV at the scene, though the evidence does not specify how many vehicles were involved in total or who was driving.
Details beyond the trauma-alert status remain limited. The station's report does not include the patients' names, ages, or specific injuries, nor does it say what caused the vehicle to roll over on the ramp. Gulf Coast News said it reached out to both the Fort Myers Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol for additional information, though no response from either agency was included in the report.
Stretch Of I-75 Has Seen Rollovers Before
This is not the first rollover reported along this stretch of highway near Fort Myers. In October 2022, a fatal rollover struck southbound I-75 between Colonial Boulevard and Daniels Parkway, killing a 64-year-old Temple Terrace man, according to WINK News. That crash involved only one vehicle, and troopers said the man, who was the car's sole occupant, was not wearing a seatbelt. Florida Highway Patrol said at the time that the driver lost control, spun off the road and struck a tree, and that the crash remained under investigation.
Other rollovers have also been logged on nearby segments of I-75 in recent years. A semi-truck rollover was reported on southbound I-75 between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Colonial Boulevard in February 2025, per Gulf Coast News. And in December 2025, the same outlet reported that two vehicles flipped into a water-filled ditch along the highway's northbound lanes between mile markers 135 and 136 in Fort Myers.
No further information about Friday's crash, including the cause or the condition of the three patients, has been released.
