A 37-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint inside 1690 Gleason Avenue in the Bronx, with two unidentified suspects making off with a bracelet and cellphone worth a combined $15,900 before one of them fired the gun and the pair sped away in a blue Ford Fusion. Police are still searching for both suspects, and no arrests have been announced.
According to a post from NYPD Crime Stoppers
, the robbery happened at approximately 10:15 p.m., when two unidentified individuals approached the victim. One of them displayed a firearm and forcibly took the bracelet and phone before the pair fled on foot, then got into a blue Ford Fusion and drove westbound on Metcalf Avenue. At some point during the encounter, one of the suspects discharged the weapon, per the same post.
There is some confusion over exactly when the robbery took place. The NYPD Crime Stoppers post pins the date as Sunday, October 18, 2026, but as Hoodline notes, a version of the same police notice described the incident as happening on a Saturday without giving a calendar date — leaving the exact day unresolved even as the time, location and core details remain consistent across both accounts.
No Word Yet on Suspects or Motive
Investigators have not released descriptions of the two suspects, and it remains unclear whether anyone was struck or injured when the firearm was discharged. The evidence available does not indicate any arrests have been made in connection with the case.
Gun-involved robberies have surfaced elsewhere in the city in recent months, though nothing ties those cases directly to this one. Hoodline's report notes that group attacks by multiple assailants have been reported elsewhere in New York City, including two attempted phone robberies involving five suspects in Washington Heights within roughly three hours of each other on a Thursday in May, and a separate East New York attack in which five men took a 38-year-old victim's wallet containing $60 and slashed him on the head.
Other Recent Bronx Robberies
The Gleason Avenue incident is not the only armed robbery reported in the Bronx this year. In January, a 73-year-old man was assaulted and robbed near East 149 Street and Wales Avenue; Fox 5 New York reported that one suspect threw the victim to the ground and struck him several times before taking his necklace, while a second suspect grabbed his cellphone, and both ran off on foot.
A more serious armed robbery took place near Roberts Avenue and Jarvis Avenue in the Bronx on May 30, 2026, at about 1:20 a.m., according to Citizen. In that case, three unidentified suspects pulled up in a black sedan, and two got out to approach two victims from behind; one brandished a firearm and ordered them to hand over jewelry, wallets and phones valued at roughly $71,000. The suspect then fired several rounds toward the victims without striking them, and the group fled northbound on Roberts Avenue in the sedan, with no injuries reported.
Police have not linked any of these incidents to the robbery on Gleason Avenue.
