Downtown High Point will host the city's annual Veterans Day Parade Sunday afternoon, with the procession stepping off at 3 p.m. to honor local veterans.

The parade is sponsored by American Legion Post 87 and VFW Post 9899, according to High Point Enterprise, which described the event as an annual city tribute to people who served in the U.S. armed forces.

The parade route is set to run along Main Street north to Qubein Avenue.

Who's Behind the Parade

As reported by High Point Enterprise, parade coordinator Tim Gulledge told the Enterprise, “We'll take people right up to the day of the parade.”

A Tradition With Some History

The High Point Veterans Day Parade has been described as a revival. Organizers urged the public, “We are bringing back the High Point Veterans Day Parade. Please come out and support our local Veterans,” according to North Carolina Governor's Working Group.

For this year's event, the basics are set: a 3 p.m. start downtown Sunday. American Legion Post 87 and VFW Post 9899 are sponsoring the tribute to the area's veterans.
