Holler Brewing Co. marked its 10th anniversary in Houston’s Sawyer Yards on Nov. 7 with changes aimed at giving visitors more room to stay: a new 1,300-square-foot indoor space and the brewery’s first on-site kitchen. The additions expand the taproom’s seating and food options after a decade in the arts district.

More Room at the Taproom

The new space, called the Back Yard, adds 1,300 square feet and increases Holler’s indoor seating capacity to more than twice its previous level, according to Community Impact. The added seating gives the brewery more capacity for visitors in the Sawyer Yards arts complex.

The anniversary celebration, called Hollerpalooza, also highlighted the brewery’s ties to the surrounding community. Owner Danielle Brandhurst described the event as a celebration of the community Holler has built in Sawyer Yards, according to Community Impact.

Pizza Joins the Taproom Menu

The expansion introduced Holler’s first on-site food program, a pizza kitchen. According to Community Impact, the menu includes 14-inch pepperoni, Margherita and cheese pizzas, along with rotating weekly specialty pies. Pretzels and chips and queso are also available.

The kitchen broadens the taproom’s offerings beyond beer and community events. With pizza available on site and more indoor seating, visitors have additional food and space options during a visit.

A Decade of Community Events in Sawyer Yards

The anniversary programming also included a Nov. 7 Hollerpalooza with live music, a curated market and four beers inspired by the brewery’s early days. Brandhurst said the event celebrated both the business and the Sawyer Yards community, according to Community Impact.

Week to week, Holler keeps its calendar full with a bike club, a run club, weekly karaoke and live musical performances on Saturdays, as reported by Community Impact. The taproom is also described as a kid-friendly destination with a dog-friendly outdoor space, and it offers its space for private party bookings for those looking to host their own gathering amid the brewery's art-district surroundings.

From Industrial Complex to Arts District

Texas Highways describes Sawyer Yards as a former complex of factories and warehouses in Houston’s First Ward. The area’s transformation into an arts district began in 2005, when developer Jon Deal renovated a building and opened Winter Street Studios.

Holler Brewing Co. is located at 2206 Edwards St., Ste. A, in Houston, and is open noon to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, noon to 11 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, as noted by Holler Brewing Co.
