A new HomeGoods store opens its doors in Huber Heights this Thursday, giving Miami Valley shoppers another off-price option for furniture, decor and housewares. The store at North Heights Plaza will run from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on opening day, according to the retailer's official store page.

The Huber Heights location sits at 5553 Executive Boulevard, per HomeGoods' own store listing, though the address has not been entirely consistent across reporting. As WHIO TV reported, the new Miami Valley store opens this week at that same 5553 Executive Boulevard address, with the same 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. hours listed on the company's website.

The address question traces back to earlier coverage from the Dayton Daily News, which reported that HomeGoods planned to renovate a storefront at 5555 Executive Boulevard in the same North Heights Plaza shopping center. That outlet also reported that developers for both HomeGoods and Ollie's Bargain Outlet had submitted building permit applications to Montgomery County to renovate retail space in Huber Heights, with both applications under county review at the time.

A Former Big Lots Site Gets New Life

The Dayton Daily News reported that the planned HomeGoods location would occupy a vacant retail space previously home to Big Lots, which closed last year after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. That gives the Huber Heights shopping corridor a second chance at filling a storefront that had sat empty since the discount chain's collapse.

Once the doors open, shoppers can expect the discount pricing HomeGoods is known for. The retailer's store page states that its prices run 20 to 50 percent less than department and specialty store prices, a pitch that has helped fuel the chain's expansion well beyond southwest Ohio.

Part Of A Bigger Retail Push

Huber Heights isn't the only Ohio community getting a new HomeGoods this week. According to MLive, two other Ohio locations are also opening Thursday: a relocated store at Taylor Square in Reynoldsburg and a new Village Square location in Ontario, near Mansfield. The same report notes that HomeGoods' broader rollout this fall spans 10 states, including California, Florida, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Texas, Kentucky, New York, Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

The store locator cited in that reporting puts HomeGoods' nationwide footprint at 1,009 stores, with California leading the country at 113 locations. The expansion fits into a much larger growth plan from parent company TJX, which according to Retail TouchPoints intended to open 146 net-new stores across its brands in 2026, bringing its global footprint to 5,300 stores. That figure included 35 new HomeGoods locations as part of the company's U.S. store growth for the year.

TJX has signaled it isn't done expanding. The same report notes the company sees a long-term opportunity to open more than 1,700 additional stores globally, with a potential global count reaching 7,000 — a sign that the Huber Heights opening is one small piece of a much larger retail strategy playing out across the country.
