Good Game Sports Club poured its last drinks Sunday, shutting the doors of its Houston Heights location at 1919 N Shepherd Dr. after just 11 months in business. The game-day gathering spot, known for its arcade machines and wall-to-wall televisions, gave customers only a day's notice before closing for good.
The bar's owners announced the closure on social media, according to Chron, posting a thank-you message on Instagram on Saturday that did not explain why the business was shutting down. The owners said they were grateful that customers had turned the bar into a community, and added that they're now looking for a new location for the club's next chapter.
Good Game opened in Houston Heights in mid-December 2025, serving Asian-fusion bar bites and drinks alongside its sports-bar staples. The menu included standouts like Buldak Wings and a Japanese Curry Flatbread, per a listing from houstonhotspots.com, which also described the space as packed with TVs, arcade-style games, a pool table, and even a photobooth.
A Space With a Pizza Past
Good Game had occupied the former home of Crust Pizza Co., which ran its Shepherd location for three years before relocating. Crust Pizza Co. moved a few blocks south on N. Durham Drive to the Durham Row retail center, reopening in late October 2025 after a brief closure tied to the move, the station notes.
Crust Pizza Co. said the relocation would let it expand its menu and offer better parking and an improved dining experience, according to the same report from communityimpact.com. The new address sits just seven blocks south of the old Shepherd spot.
Chron said it reached out to Good Game's team for more information, but no additional details on the closure were available. The owners' search for a new location remains unresolved, leaving Houston Heights regulars to wonder where the next chapter of Good Game Sports Club might unfold.
