Houston police are seeking help identifying a man in connection with an alleged attempted aggravated assault reported at 2401 Lazy Hollow Drive on October 18. Investigators say he pointed a gun at a woman returning home and then attempted to assault her.
The department shared the appeal in a post on X, writing, “Do you recognize this male? He is wanted in an attempted aggravated assault that occurred at 2401 Lazy Hollow Dr on October 18,” according to Houston Police
. HPD's post also says that “the male is accused of pointing a gun at the victim when she was returning home and attempted to assault her.” The appeal did not provide a suspect description or information about the victim, and the department had not announced a case-status update in the post.
How to Submit a Tip
Anyone with information is asked to contact HPD's Major Assaults division at 713-308-8800, according to Houston Police Department. That same tip line number appears listed for Major Assaults in the department's own command overview document.
The alleged assault falls under Texas's aggravated assault statute, which covers assaults involving the use or exhibition of a deadly weapon, and the attempt element is addressed separately under the state's criminal attempt statute. No arrest, charges, or court disposition had been announced as of the department's post.
Houston Assault Trends
Preliminary citywide data showed aggravated assaults increased by 9% in Houston in 2024 compared with 2023, according to Houston Public Media. That broader trend does not establish anything about this individual case.
What Remains Unknown
Houston Police have not released a photograph description, age, clothing details, or any vehicle information connected to the suspect. The identity and condition of the woman involved have also not been made public. As is standard for these social media appeals, the department has not disclosed how many tips, if any, it has received since posting the request for help.
