The drive-thru at a northwest Houston Whataburger was blocked after a pickup truck crashed into the building on Halloween morning. The restaurant’s dining room remained open, according to Chron; the cause of the crash and the drive-thru’s repair timeline have not been reported.
Chron reported that the crash happened around 8 a.m. at Whataburger #1079, 1110 Silber Road, near a Walmart. The truck’s front end entered the area around the first drive-thru window. The damaged section was boarded up and cones blocked the lane, while dine-in, curbside pickup and delivery remained available, the outlet reported. A Whataburger employee told Chron that no one working inside was hurt.
Police and firefighters responded, according to Chron. The outlet said the circumstances of the collision were unclear and that it had sought information from Houston police and Whataburger. No reopening time for the drive-thru was reported.
A separate Houston storefront crash offers context
Vehicle impacts at storefronts have also been documented elsewhere in Houston, though separate incidents do not establish a shared cause or a trend. KHOU 11 reported that a December 2024 crash at a Westheimer strip mall sent a car through several businesses, including 32 Degreez Barbershop; an 11-year-old boy was among those injured. That crash differed from the Silber Road incident in location and reported injuries.
KHOU also reported that the Storefront Safety Council’s ongoing database lists nearly 250 Houston storefront crashes over about 15 years. The outlet cautioned that the database is incomplete: its curator estimated it captures about one in 12 such crashes. The tally therefore provides limited context, not a comprehensive count or evidence that crashes are increasing.
