Biscuitville has closed its restaurant at 10605 Broad River Road in Irmo after less than two years in business, with the location now marked permanently closed on the company's own website and all signage stripped from the building and roadside.
The closure was first reported by The State, which found the Irmo restaurant listed as permanently closed on Biscuitville's site. A reporter visiting the site also found all Biscuitville signage removed from the building and roadside, according to the same report. The Irmo restaurant first opened in March 2025, meaning it operated for roughly a year and a half before shutting down, per the outlet's reporting.
When it opened, the Irmo location was a notable addition to the chain's South Carolina footprint. According to the Town of Irmo, the restaurant at 10605 Broad River Road marked Biscuitville's tenth establishment in South Carolina. The reason behind the closure has not been established.
Not the First Columbia-Area Closure
This is not the first time a Columbia-area Biscuitville has gone dark in recent months. The chain closed its restaurant at 7924 Garners Ferry Road in Columbia in July 2025, according to the same State report. That location had opened in March 2024 and operated for a little more than a year before closing, the outlet noted.
At the time of the Garners Ferry Road closure, Biscuitville said the decision followed an analysis of every store's operations and performance tied to the company's future growth, the station's report indicated. Biscuitville still operates a restaurant on Clemson Road in northeast Columbia, which remains listed as active on the company's own site.
A Chain With Deep Southern Roots Still Expanding
Biscuitville launched in 1975 in Danville, Virginia, and has grown considerably since then, including opening a 78,000-square-foot distribution center in Burlington, North Carolina, in 2022, per the same account. The company's reported location count has varied across different statements: The State's report cited more than 70 locations across Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina, while Biscuitville's own site at one point cited more than 85 restaurants across the Carolinas and Virginia, and a company press release dated December 17, 2025 put the figure at 86 restaurants in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
Biscuitville said it continued to expand its presence in North Carolina and South Carolina during 2025, opening three new restaurants that year, according to a company press release. A separate company announcement said Biscuitville employs over 2,200 people and operates more than 85 restaurants. The chain has also said it is continuing to grow its presence in eastern North Carolina, as reported by Port City Daily, which also noted the company has reportedly tripled revenue to $150 million over roughly the past decade.
New Locations Planned Even as Irmo Goes Dark
Biscuitville's expansion plans include two new Brunswick County, North Carolina restaurants. The company announced it planned to open its first Brunswick County restaurant in Shallotte on February 23, 2026, at 4425 Main Street near U.S. 17, according to the company's own announcement. Biscuitville also said it had purchased property for a second Brunswick County location at the corner of Long Beach Road and N.C. 211 near Southport.
For now, the exact circumstances behind the Irmo closure — including whether employees were affected or what might become of the Broad River Road building — remain unclear. What is documented is the pattern: a company still opening new restaurants in North Carolina even as it pulls back from at least two South Carolina locations near Columbia within the past year and a half.
