Joey'z Shopping Spree is closing four discount stores in Connecticut and Massachusetts: locations in West Hartford, Waterbury, West Springfield, and Springfield.
The four closing locations are in West Hartford and Waterbury, Connecticut, and West Springfield and Springfield, Massachusetts, according to The Connecticut Scoop.
Joey’z has operated as more than a conventional clothing discounter: the company says it has over 30 years in the business and describes its roots in affordable housewares. Its trademark filing listed merchandise ranging from linens and clothing to kitchen appliances and household cleaners, reflecting a broad, general-merchandise format rather than a single-category shop.
Manchester Store Closure
A Manchester store was also reported to be closing.
A post on Instagram also detailed the Manchester closure, repeating the Manchester Parkade address and the same 10% to 70% discount range reported elsewhere.
One Store Left Standing
With four more Connecticut and Massachusetts locations winding down, the discount retailer's only remaining outpost is a single store in Mount Vernon, New York, the report notes. The Connecticut Scoop said it could not confirm whether that Mount Vernon store is liquidating, leaving its future status an open question for now.
The store closures do not necessarily mean the business is ending online. Joey’z’s company website says it sells through both physical locations and online marketplaces, and promotes an online housewares shop. The site describes its pitch as offering durable home goods at lower prices than higher-end brands; it does not say whether the Connecticut and Massachusetts closures will change its online operations or the status of the Mount Vernon location.
For shoppers hoping to grab deals before the lights go out, the store-closing sales at West Hartford, Waterbury, West Springfield, and Springfield are already running, though how long each sale will last remains unclear.
