A 33-year-old man was found dead in a field in Killeen early Friday morning, and police have detained one person as investigators work to piece together what happened. Officers say the preliminary investigation points to a domestic-related incident, though the man's identity has not been released.

According to KXXV, Killeen police officers were called just after 6 a.m. to the area of S W S Young Drive and Stagecoach Road for reports of a person with an unknown status.

Once on scene, officers located the man in a nearby field. KXXV reports that “authorities located a 33-year-old man in a nearby field who was pronounced dead on the scene.” Police said Gregory Johnson pronounced the man dead at 6:16 a.m., per the KWTX report.

One Person Detained, No Public Threat Cited

Police detained one person in connection with the incident, according to the same KXXV account. Investigators have not said whether that person has been arrested or charged, and the man's cause and manner of death have not been disclosed.

Preliminary findings indicate the incident was domestic-related and occurred at a residence in the 2400 block of Riley Drive, per the KWTX report. KXXV's version of the preliminary finding states it is simply tied to “a domestic situation from a nearby residence,” without naming a specific address. Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the community, according to the KXXV report.

The man's identity has not been released. KXXV notes that authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased man, pending next of kin notifications. Killeen police's Criminal Investigation Division Robbery-Homicide Unit is investigating the death, per the KWTX account.

Another Recent Killeen Case Also Domestic-Related

This is not the first time in recent memory that Killeen police have described a death investigation in similar terms. In a separate case, police said a 74-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man were found dead inside a home on the 4200 block of Bluestem Lane, according to the Killeen Daily Herald.

Police were dispatched to that home shortly before 2 p.m. on a Sunday for a welfare check, the Daily Herald reported, and said the preliminary investigation indicated the incident was domestic-related and appeared to be a murder-suicide. That case was also handled by the Killeen Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, Robbery-Homicide Unit, the newspaper noted.
