A downtown Dayton photo studio held a grand opening in September, with Max Spang named as a co-owner. The studio spans about 2,900 square feet.
In reporting on Knack's East Third Street move, the Dayton Business Journal said the company was doubling its footprint after recording more than 133% growth since 2020.
A Downtown Studio for Photographers
Figment describes itself on its own site as a full-service, natural-light photo studio in the heart of downtown Dayton, with about 2,900 square feet of space, 14-foot ceilings, soft natural light, and hardwood floors, according to Figment Dayton. The studio also stocks a full-service kitchen along with plenty of props, furniture and backgrounds, per the same site, and customers can rent it by the hour or by the day.
The space is also available for full-day rentals.
Downtown Dayton Business Activity
At its 2024 SID annual meeting, the Downtown Dayton Partnership reported that downtown foot traffic was at 84% of its pre-pandemic level and that 28 new businesses had opened downtown so far that year.
Santa Sessions Arrive This Month
Snyder said the studio is gearing toward commercial use, with Figment now equipped with a Christmas set and offering Photos With Santa sessions set to begin on Nov. 21. Each session runs 10 minutes, and families will receive three to five final photo files delivered digitally through an online gallery within a week.
Figment will also provide hot cocoa and cookies before or after a session. Snyder said the Santa sessions are private and skip the mall-line experience altogether, and she noted that photographers may bring families into the studio for Christmas pictures and other shoots as the weather turns cold. Appointments require at least 48 hours' advance booking, and customers looking for last-minute slots or unavailable times are directed to email [email protected].
