Fresno police say a 33-year-old Las Vegas man is behind a string of 12 residential burglaries that hit homes across the northeast and northwest sides of the city, and that a search tied to his arrest turned up a loaded handgun along with gold jewelry, including a necklace reported stolen. Jordon Packard was taken into custody on Oct. 21 near Blackstone Avenue and Santa Ana Avenue, and he now faces multiple counts of residential burglary and firearms-related offenses.
According to gvwire.com, Packard has been linked to 12 residential burglaries across northeast and northwest Fresno. Police said the Fresno County Sheriff's Office separately identified Packard as a suspect in a burglary within its own jurisdiction, suggesting his alleged reach extended beyond city limits.
Two Districts, One Suspect
Detectives from Fresno's Northeast and Northwest policing districts worked together and determined that Packard was responsible for break-ins in both areas, according to the same report. Of the 12 burglaries, police linked eight to the Northeast Policing District and four to the Northwest Policing District, per yourcentralvalley.com. Detectives said they arrested Packard near Blackstone Avenue and Santa Ana Avenue on Oct. 21, closing the loop on an investigation that had spanned months and multiple neighborhoods.
At the time of arrest, detectives recovered several pieces of gold jewelry from Packard, including a distinctive gold necklace that police said had recently been stolen, the report notes. A subsequent search warrant yielded a loaded 9mm Sig Sauer handgun along with additional gold jewelry, coins, paperwork, and jewelry bags, according to police.
A Summer Spike in Late-Night Break-Ins
Police said the investigation grew out of a noticeable rise in late-night residential burglaries during July and August, with cash and jewelry the primary items reported stolen. That pattern appears to have continued into the fall, as news3lv.com reports that similar burglaries were reported in the Northwest Policing District on Oct. 3. Another burglary in the Northeast District on Oct. 17 resulted in the theft of several thousand dollars' worth of unique jewelry and collectible coins, per the same report.
Packard was booked into Fresno County Jail on multiple counts of residential burglary and firearms-related offenses following the arrest, as reported on Nov. 3 by GV Wire, YourCentralValley and News 3, before FOX5 Vegas published its report on Nov. 4. Whether he has entered a plea or retained an attorney has not been reported.
