West Shore Regional Police reported that the roadway in the 400 block of Hummel Avenue was closed and nearby residents were asked to remain indoors during a police incident Monday. In an 11:15 p.m. update, the department said the suspect was in custody and described the incident as having ended peacefully, according to its notice on Crimewatch.
The incident began when officers tried to serve an arrest warrant on Nicholas Rosado, 36, in connection with a domestic assault reported the previous day, PennLive reported. Rosado barricaded himself in the home, and Chief Anthony Minium said he threatened officers and himself. Nearby homes were evacuated, according to PennLive.
West Shore Regional Police identified Rosado as the man taken into custody. WGAL reported that Minium gave the custody time as 10:03 p.m. and said officers used pepper spray inside the home before negotiators reached a peaceful resolution. No one was injured, the station reported. Minium did not confirm whether Rosado had a weapon, and Hummel Avenue reopened shortly after 11 p.m., according to WGAL.
