A 53-year-old Aurora woman has been found guilty of felony theft after walking off with more than $2,000 in designer merchandise from stores at Park Meadows mall in Lone Tree. Leonor Solis-Gonzalez was convicted Tuesday of felony theft valued between $2,000 and $5,000, and she now faces up to 18 months in jail when she's sentenced in January.
KDVR reported, citing investigators, that the theft took place in December 2025 and involved a Louis Vuitton handbag taken from a display case at Dillard's along with designer clothing lifted from Macy's. Officers later searched Solis-Gonzalez's car and found the designer goods inside, the outlet reported.
Solis-Gonzalez told investigators she had paid for the items, and law enforcement later found the designer goods in her car.
Sentencing Set for January, Up to 18 Months on the Table
Solis-Gonzalez's sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 11, 2027, when she could face up to a year and a half behind bars. The felony theft classification reflects the dollar range of the stolen merchandise, which prosecutors placed between $2,000 and $5,000, per the same account relayed through the district attorney's office.
Park Meadows saw more than one high-profile theft case in 2025. In a separate incident, Lone Tree police chased down and arrested two suspects after a single $600 item was reportedly stolen from Dillard's, according to kdvr.com. In that case, a 32-year-old man was charged with theft, motor vehicle theft and eluding, while a 37-year-old woman faced charges of theft, false reporting to authorities and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Colorado's Shoplifting Numbers Paint a Bigger Picture
The Solis-Gonzalez case lands amid broader data showing Colorado grappling with a persistent shoplifting problem. An analysis of FBI figures found the state carries the fifth-highest shoplifting burden in the nation, according to The Coloradoan. Colorado logged 26,698 reported shoplifting incidents in 2025, down 1.9% from the previous year but up 20.6% compared to 2023.
That works out to a reported shoplifting rate of 447.9 incidents per 100,000 covered residents statewide in 2025, the Coloradoan analysis found. Nationally, there were 1,069,716 reported shoplifting incidents that year, a 4.7% drop from 2024. The outlet noted its figures reflect reports made to the FBI rather than a full accounting of every shoplifting incident, retail shrinkage, or organized retail theft loss.
