A Marysville man convicted in the shooting death of Benito Valle has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison, closing out one chapter of a case that began with a deadly argument at a celebration of life gathering earlier this year. Namee Najarro was sentenced in Yuba County on Monday, after pleading no contest to second-degree murder.
Najarro was sentenced to 15 years to life for Valle's murder. Yuba County Judge Debra Givens sentenced Najarro, who entered a no contest plea to second-degree murder in September.
Witnesses said Najarro and brothers Adrian and Jesus Vega Jr. opened fire on Valle during an argument at a celebration of life event on Sixth Avenue in Olivehurst on March 20, as reported by appeal-democrat.com. Adrian Vega and his brother Jesus Vega Jr. were also involved in the incident.
Valle Died at Local Hospital From Multiple Gunshot Wounds
Valle was pronounced dead at Adventist-Health Rideout Hospital after suffering multiple gunshot wounds, the outlet's report states. The investigation into the shooting was led by a Yuba County Sheriff's detective, according to the seed facts in this case.
Najarro was arrested in San Diego County on March 27 after initially leaving the area following the murder.
Co-Defendants Face Separate Outcomes
Jesus Vega Jr. has a plea deal and is awaiting a sentencing hearing. A report from yahoo.com noted that the 30-year-old had surrendered to law enforcement at the Yuba County Jail.
Adrian Vega, meanwhile, has pleaded not guilty. His jury trial is scheduled to begin April 27, 2027, the same outlet's report notes.
