Medical City Fort Worth is using a neighboring church’s parking lot as a temporary stopgap while construction takes over parking space on the hospital campus. Broadway Baptist Church has agreed to let hospital staff park there, and the hospital will run shuttles between the lot and campus, according to Fort Worth Report.
The arrangement accompanies construction of an eight-story garage on the hospital’s south side along West Humbolt Street. The $51.5 million project is planned for 1,189 spaces, with completion expected in spring 2028, the report said. The hospital has described the garage as a response to current parking-capacity challenges and anticipated growth.
A separate expansion at JPS
The garage is one of two distinct parking and hospital-building projects underway in Fort Worth’s medical district. JPS Health Network said its recently completed Main Street Parking Garage will support its Health Center for Women, which was scheduled to open later in 2026. That project is separate from Medical City’s construction and parking arrangement.
The broader JPS hospital project offers another measure of the district’s planned expansion, though it is not evidence about Medical City’s parking demand. Fort Worth Report reported that the new JPS hospital is expected to raise capacity from 582 beds to more than 740, with room to grow to 800. JPS’s project and Medical City’s garage have different operators, purposes and schedules.
For Medical City employees, the church lot and shuttles address the immediate loss of campus parking during construction. The Fort Worth Report account does not specify the shuttle’s hours, the lot’s capacity or the arrangement’s precise end date. The hospital has also warned of possible temporary road closures related to construction and advised patients and visitors to allow extra travel time and follow posted signs.
