A missing person last seen near Venice Boulevard and Glyndon Avenue has been found, bringing a Silver Alert search to a close. California Highway Patrol said Monday evening that the subject had been located and that the alert covering Los Angeles County was deactivated.

“This Silver Alert has been deactivated. The subject has been located,” CHP - Alerts

wrote in a post on X announcing the update.

The subject was last seen at Venice Boulevard and Glyndon Avenue in Los Angeles.

That pattern of incomplete follow-up information isn't unique to this case. When another elderly Los Angeles-area man, 86-year-old Cruz Flores, was the subject of a Silver Alert in September, MyNewsLA reported that CHP announced at 9:31 p.m. that he had been located but, as the outlet noted, “did not say where or when.” Flores had last been seen around noon near Ivy and Elnora streets in Pico Rivera before he too was found and his alert canceled.

How California's Silver Alert System Works

Silver Alerts are designed to mobilize the public quickly when an older or at-risk adult goes missing. According to the California Highway Patrol, the program traces back to Senate Bill 1047, which became law in 2012 and added section 8594.10 to the California Government Code, establishing the statewide framework CHP still uses to activate and broadcast these alerts on behalf of local police departments.

The CHP post instructed anyone who spotted the subject to call 911. With the alert deactivated and the subject located, the case is resolved.
