MJ's Grill is back in business in Columbia, reopening at 612 St. Andrews Road. Owner Anthony Grieb opened the new restaurant on Oct. 23, describing it as back and bigger than ever.
The move comes less than a year after Grieb's previous MJ's Grill, a five-year fixture at 5 Lake Carolina Way in northeast Columbia, shut down. As the Post and Courier reports, the restaurant initially announced it would close for just one day. It never reopened. According to The State, a Blythewood magistrate ordered MJ's Grill to vacate the Lake Carolina Way building in January after an eviction notice went up on the door in November, with the restaurant having fallen behind on rent by $14,863.
The New St. Andrews Road Location
The new MJ's Grill is at 612 St. Andrews Road. The stretch of St. Andrews Road sees about 24,000 cars a day, according to S.C. Department of Transportation data cited by The State. The former Lake Carolina Way location was listed at 2,560 square feet.
American Comfort Food
MJ's Grill serves American fare including burgers, baked potatoes, flatbreads, wings, quesadillas, salads and sandwiches, according to the restaurant's reopening coverage. The restaurant's own website describes itself as a full-service family restaurant and lists a menu built around burgers, wraps, quesadillas and salads, alongside a wide selection of beer, wine and liquor.
The restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, running Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday brings a brunch menu from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by the regular menu from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. — a rhythm that lines up with the restaurant's own website, which also notes it closes for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.
St. Patrick's Day Events
The restaurant has also featured St. Patrick's Day events.
