Montgomery County detectives are asking the public for help finding Kimberly Carias-Lemus, a 16-year-old last seen Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in the 2100 block of Arcola Avenue in Wheaton-Glenmont. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, and police describe her as 5 feet 4 inches tall and 100 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
The appeal was issued by detectives with the Special Victims Investigations Division, according to a post from the Montgomery County Department of Police.
The post says detectives are “asking for the public's assistance in locating Kimberly Carias-Lemus, a missing 16-year-old.” It also gives her description and the circumstances of her disappearance in a missing-person bulletin.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call the Montgomery County Police Non-Emergency line, a 24-hour number, at 301-279-8000.
When Maryland Issues an AMBER Alert
Maryland State Police says an AMBER Alert requires authorities to confirm that a child under 18 has been abducted, believe the child is in danger of serious harm or death, have enough information to help locate the child, believe the child remains in the area, and enter the child’s information into the National Crime Center (NCIC), according to the Maryland Department of State Police. That statewide guidance does not establish whether the criteria were met in this case.
Reporting a Missing Child and Statewide Resources
Montgomery County Police says there is no time limit for reporting a missing child; the commonly cited 24-hour waiting period does not apply, according to the Montgomery County Police Department. Separately, the Maryland Center for Missing and Unidentified Persons assists police departments and families in locating missing children and adults statewide, according to the Maryland Department of State Police. The department’s description outlines that assistance but does not specify how public notices or case updates are handled.
A Familiar Address, Two Cases Less Than a Year Apart
A March 2025 report by MoCo Show described a missing 14-year-old named Kimberly Elizabet Carias Lemus, last seen in the same 2100 block of Arcola Avenue, then identified as part of Wheaton-Glenmont.
A separate case in 2024 involved a missing 13-year-old identified as Kimberly Carias, who was reported last seen the morning of June 3, 2024, in the 12100 block of Shorefield Court in Wheaton. That earlier report was also later updated to say she had been located safe and unharmed, per the same outlet's coverage.
Case Update
