Mood House, the Charlotte-based massage studio known for its Palm Springs-inspired treatment rooms, has signed a lease for a roughly 2,000-square-foot space at Toringdon Market, putting its next studio squarely in the Ballantyne area. The deal marks the company's third Charlotte-area location as it pushes its services into new neighborhoods south of its original Dilworth home base.
According to WSOC-TV, the lease was confirmed by Lizzy Sirkin Hill, who serves as Mood House's CEO and co-owner. Toringdon Market sits on the east side of Johnston Road, between Toringdon Way and North Community House Road, placing the future studio in the heart of the Ballantyne shopping corridor. The company has framed the move as part of a broader effort to bring its massage and wellness services closer to customers' homes as it expands its footprint across the Charlotte area.
From Dilworth Pop-Up to Growing Local Chain
Mood House opened its first studio in Dilworth in 2021 before expanding to Oakhurst in 2024, according to the station's report. The company describes itself on its website as a modern massage studio with a Palm Springs vibe, and each of its existing locations includes several private infrared sauna suites, per the same account.
Hill's rise to CEO came earlier this year, when Mood House named her CEO and co-owner alongside founder Cristina Wilson, the station notes. Under that arrangement, Hill oversees day-to-day operations and the company's expansion, while Wilson remains on board as founder and advisor.
Growth Numbers Behind the Expansion Push
The Ballantyne lease follows a stretch of rapid growth for Mood House. As of a July report, the company had grown 27% year over year and recently surpassed 2,250 monthly massage members across its Dilworth and Oakhurst studios, the outlet's report indicates. At that time, Mood House said it planned to open two more Charlotte-area locations within the following 18 months, with one eyed for south Charlotte and another for the Lake Norman area, though leases had not yet been signed and exact locations had not been announced.
It is not clear from available reporting whether the newly signed Toringdon Market lease corresponds to either of those previously floated south Charlotte or Lake Norman plans.
Ballantyne's Busy Retail and Housing Pipeline
Mood House's arrival adds to a flurry of activity around Toringdon Market and the surrounding Ballantyne area. Whole Foods Market is planning to take over the former Earth Fare space at the same shopping center, according to The Charlotte Observer. Nearby, site work has begun on a 476-unit development off North Community House Road, the newspaper reports, signaling continued residential growth in the neighborhood that could feed demand for new wellness offerings like Mood House's planned studio.
