Charlotte is waking up to mostly cloudy, muggy conditions Thursday, with temperatures in the mid-60s and a warm afternoon ahead. Patchy fog is possible Thursday morning, with conditions improving slowly. Rain and a few thunderstorms will keep outdoor plans on a loose leash through Thursday night and into Friday.
Fog Gives Way To A Warm, Unsettled Afternoon
The latest National Weather Service forecast describes patchy fog and slowly improving conditions through the morning, with at most a slight chance of rain Thursday afternoon and evening. Charlotte should reach about 77 degrees, with southeasterly winds. Rainfall is expected to be light overall, though brief heavy downpours and a few rumbles of thunder are possible.
Rain Lingers Before The Front Moves Through
Thursday night brings a 60% chance of rain and thunderstorms, with temperatures holding near 63 degrees. Precipitation chances are expected to increase overnight as a front moves through Friday, with possible stratus early Friday. Friday's high should reach about 71 degrees before drier, cooler air begins settling in, with mostly clear skies and a low near 50 Friday night.
Weekend Outlook Turns Sunny And Sharply Cooler
Saturday is forecast to be sunny near 66 degrees, but temperatures will drop to around 41 Saturday night. That is a noticeable change from the warmer weekend outlook in Hoodline's earlier forecast. Sunday should be sunny near 65, followed by mostly sunny conditions near 68 Monday, 70 Tuesday and 68 on Veterans Day.
No watches, warnings or advisories are posted for the Charlotte area. Drivers should still allow extra time Thursday into Friday, when fog, wet roads and reduced visibility could make the morning commute more annoying than the calendar suggests.
