A new Fairfax County location

The Fairfax Corner restaurant will be Nando’s fourth location in Fairfax County, joining restaurants at Reston’s RTC West, Springfield Town Center and the Mosaic District in Merrifield, FFXnow reported. The chain has nearly 50 locations across Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Illinois, Texas and Georgia, and operates in 24 countries across five continents, according to Patch.

Planning context for Fairfax Center

Fairfax County’s Comprehensive Plan says the Fairfax Center Area was originally envisioned as an employment-focused mixed-use center, with housing as a predominant secondary use. The plan describes the broader area as approximately 5,340 acres; that figure is not a measurement of Fairfax Corner itself, according to Fairfax County’s Comprehensive Plan.

Restaurant details

The 3,450-square-foot restaurant at 11941 Grand Commons Avenue was previously a boutique clothing store. It can seat 84 customers indoors and 28 on an outdoor patio, Patch reported. Nando’s says it marinates its chicken for at least 24 hours, grills it over a flame and bastes it with PERi-PERi sauce, with customers choosing the spice level.

Opening-weekend schedule

The restaurant is scheduled to open Monday, Nov. 9. Before then, a preview event will take place outside the location Saturday, Nov. 7, starting at noon. The first 500 guests can receive a free quarter-chicken meal with fries; games, giveaways and a DJ are also planned, according to Patch.
