A new Methodist Physicians Clinic is taking shape in the Tiburon development near Gretna, close to Highway 370 and 180th Street, bringing an approximately $10 million facility that will include space for eight primary care providers and offer urgent care in the evenings, on weekends and during holidays. Construction is already underway, with Methodist planning to open the doors in fall 2027.
According to KMTV 3 News Now, the project is meant to expand access to healthcare for residents in what Methodist describes as one of the metro area's fastest-growing communities. The clinic will offer urgent care outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
The roughly $10 million project will include space for eight primary care providers, according to a statement from Methodist Health System. Construction is expected to begin this fall, with the health system anticipating a 12-month build before the clinic opens in fall 2027.
Health System Leaders Cite Growing Demand
Methodist Health System President and CEO Josie Abboud said in the statement that the project reflects a broader goal for the organization. “This new clinic represents our commitment to providing convenient, high-quality care close to home,” Abboud said, per the same statement. The facility is designed to meet increasing patient demand in western Sarpy County and surrounding communities, the health system said.
Interim President Stephanie Hogan connected the clinic's extended hours to her own experience balancing work and family. “As a working mom the urgent care certainly speaks to me to be able to have those convenient hours for my family too,” Hogan told KMTV. She added that access to care close to home is valuable to patients and reflects investment in the community.
Western Sarpy County's Population Boom Outpaces Jobs
The new clinic lands in a corner of the metro that has been drawing attention for its rapid growth and lopsided job base. Gretna Mayor Mike Evans has pointed out that Sarpy County holds 37 percent of the metropolitan area's population but only 18 percent of its jobs, according to KETV. Evans has also discussed the importance of working closer to home.
Methodist is not alone in targeting the area. KETV reports that Nebraska Medicine plans its own health center at the Gretna Landing development, expected to become a focal point of that project when it arrives in 2027. The Nebraska Medicine announcement came amid a statewide shortage of healthcare workers, per the same report.
Project details compiled by GroOmaha describe the planned Gretna Landing Health Center as a 125,000-square-foot facility offering primary and specialty care, orthopedics and sports medicine, imaging, laboratory services, urgent care, a pharmacy and procedural spaces. The health center is part of the medical infrastructure planned for western Sarpy County.
Methodist Has Expanded Urgent Care Elsewhere in the Metro
The Tiburon-area clinic would add to a string of recent Methodist expansions around Omaha's growing suburbs. In southwest Douglas County, Methodist Physicians Clinic–North Streams began seeing patients on Jan. 5, according to Omaha.com. That 14,200-square-foot clinic has 24 exam rooms and offers family medicine, women's services, urgent care and imaging, with urgent care open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and weekends and holidays from noon to 6 p.m., no appointment necessary.
Methodist has also brought urgent care to its Papillion clinic location, according to a separate Omaha.com report. Those additions suggest a pattern as the health system builds out urgent care access across Sarpy and Douglas counties, with the planned Gretna-area facility adding to Methodist's presence in western Sarpy County.
