A 13-year-old New Iberia boy has been missing since Friday, prompting Louisiana State Police to issue a Level II Endangered/Missing Child Advisory on behalf of the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office. Isaac Canter was last seen leaving his home, and investigators believe he may be traveling on foot in an unknown direction.
According to WBRZ, Canter was last seen Friday leaving his home on Chastant Road in New Iberia. However, KLFY reported a different account, placing his last sighting at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the area of Freetown Road near Livingston Street. The discrepancy between the two reported locations has not been resolved.
The two outlets also differ on Canter’s physical description. WBRZ described him as a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing approximately 135 pounds, while the same report notes he was last seen wearing a black-and-white skeleton sweater, khaki pants, and black-and-white shoes. KLFY’s report, by contrast, described him as approximately 5 feet tall and weighing 120 pounds, also with brown hair and hazel eyes.
What Investigators Believe
Investigators believe Canter is traveling on foot, though the direction remains unknown, the station’s report states. He may be carrying a green backpack, according to WBRZ’s account. The two outlets diverge again on a possible animal companion: WBRZ reported he may be accompanied by a tan dog wearing a pink collar, while KLFY described the dog as brown, also wearing a pink collar.
The Louisiana State Police advisory was requested by the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office and issued statewide, per the agency’s Facebook post. The alert lists Canter’s age as 13 and asks anyone with information to come forward immediately.
How To Report A Sighting
Anyone with information about Canter’s whereabouts is asked to call the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office at (337) 369-3711 or dial 911, per WBRZ. The advisory was shared statewide through Louisiana State Police’s official Facebook page, which repeated the same contact information and described Canter as a missing 13-year-old from New Iberia.
No further updates on the search have been reported. The exact circumstances surrounding Canter’s disappearance, including the conflicting details about where and when he was last seen, remain unclear based on available reporting.
