Norfolk is waking to patchy fog Wednesday before the clouds clear and temperatures climb toward 78 degrees. The brief morning murk should fade after 8 or 9 a.m., setting up another unusually warm day for early November.
Fog Gives Way To A Warm, Mostly Sunny Afternoon
Visibility may be reduced during the morning commute, but conditions improve quickly as light southerly breezes develop. The National Weather Service in Wakefield expects mostly sunny skies and only a minimal chance of rain Wednesday.
Tonight turns mostly cloudy with a low near 60 degrees, followed by another warm day Thursday. Highs could reach 80 degrees, with southerly winds and only a small daytime chance of a shower.
Late-Week Rain Threat Sharpens
The forecast changes Thursday night as rain develops late in the night or early Friday, and a few thunderstorms are possible Friday. Friday is expected to bring widespread moderate to locally heavy rain, with 1 to 2 or more inches possible across portions of the area; localized totals could exceed 2 inches.
Some areas could see locally heavier totals, and embedded thunderstorms may add an extra punch to downpours. The timing and placement of the heaviest rain remain unsettled, but outdoor plans and Friday travel could face a soggy stretch.
Cooler, Drier Weather Returns This Weekend
Behind the front, Saturday looks mostly sunny with a high near 66 degrees, while Sunday should be sunny and cooler at around 62. The shift marks a quick return to more seasonable November weather after a midweek run that has felt more like an encore of summer.
