A North Austin windshield shop is betting that having 70,000 square feet of glass sitting on its shelves will mean fewer drivers stuck waiting around with a cracked windshield. JRD Windshield Repair & Replacement says it has opened its new location at 8906 Wall St, Suite 508, moving its operation out of Round Rock and into a spot near Parmer Lane and Tech Ridge.
The move, according to EIN Presswire, takes the company from Round Rock to North Austin. Company owner Jeremy Driscoll framed the relocation around convenience, saying the new spot puts JRD closer to most of its customers. He also said Austin drivers should not have to wait a week or make two trips for a proper windshield replacement.
Same-Day Installs and In-House Camera Work
JRD says most windshield replacements can be completed the same day a customer calls, with installs themselves taking about 90 minutes and drivers typically back on the road about an hour after that. The shop says it keeps glass in stock and has calibration equipment in-house.
Modern windshields often house the cameras and sensors that power driver-assistance systems, which need to be recalibrated after a replacement. JRD says it handles that recalibration in-house during the same visit and gives every customer a calibration report. The North Austin shop also handles full windshield replacement, rock chip and crack repair, side window, back glass and quarter glass replacement, and ADAS camera calibration, according to the company.
Pricing, Warranty and Service Area
Beyond the new address, JRD says it works with all major insurance providers and backs its work with a lifetime workmanship warranty. The company also says it provides mobile service across the Austin metro within about 30 miles of the shop. On its own website, JRD lists rock-chip repair starting at $85 in-shop or $125 for mobile visits, with most full windshield replacements running $300 to $1,200 installed depending on the vehicle, per JRD's North Austin service page.
Customers looking for an estimate can get an instant quote by entering their license plate or VIN on the company's site, and the business can also be reached by phone at (512) 809-3282. JRD describes itself as a family-owned auto glass company operated by JRD Industries LLC and says it has served Greater Austin since 2009.
Rising Glass Costs Are Reshaping the Business
The North Austin opening release was published November 6, 2026, 39 days after the Glassbytes article containing Driscoll’s comments was published September 28, 2026. In the trade-publication interview, he said JRD had seen a dramatic increase in wholesale glass prices. He said the company has had to be more selective, not only about where it buys glass from, but also which jobs it is willing to take on.
Driscoll also said insurers and third-party administrators were not providing tariff relief to independent glass shops like his, based on his own account to the trade outlet. That financial backdrop adds some context to JRD's emphasis on a large glass inventory at the new North Austin location.
JRD was also featured in the summer 2026 issue of AGRR Magazine, part of the trade coverage the company has drawn this year. For now, the North Austin shop stands as the company's latest bet that stocking glass and keeping calibration work in-house can keep Central Texas drivers off the road for less time after a cracked or shattered windshield.
