Not the First Ulta Theft Report in North Olmsted This Year
Two Ulta theft cases were reported in North Olmsted earlier this year. In February, two suspects allegedly took 14 items worth $1,650.98 from the store, according to a report from cleveland.com. In that case, police reportedly used facial-recognition software to come up with a name for a male suspect, though the woman accused of being with him was never identified, the outlet reported.
Then in June, an Ulta employee discovered that seven bottles of perfume worth $1,182 had been taken, cleveland.com reported separately.
Similar Cases Have Surfaced Outside Ohio
Beauty retail theft reports of this size aren't unique to North Olmsted. In Lompoc, California, two women were suspected of stealing merchandise valued at $6,575 from an Ulta Beauty store, according to the Santa Maria Times, which reported the pair left the store without paying for the goods.
Under Ohio law, theft of property valued between $1,000 and $7,500 can be classified as a fifth-degree felony, according to Ohio Revised Code Section 2913.02.
As of now, no arrest or identification has been announced in connection with the Great Northern incident. North Olmsted police continue to ask anyone with information about the suspect's identity to contact the department's detective bureau.
