A northwest Las Vegas store clerk ended up in a physical confrontation with a young robbery suspect late last week, and now police are asking the public for help tracking him down. The incident unfolded near West Cheyenne Avenue and Jones Boulevard, where a teenager allegedly grabbed merchandise and tried to bolt before things turned physical with the person working the counter.

According to FOX5 Vegas, Las Vegas police are seeking the public's help identifying a suspect from what they're calling an October northwest Las Vegas strong-arm commercial robbery. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department told the station the incident happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 29 in the 6000 block of West Cheyenne Avenue, near Jones Boulevard. A separate account from Telemundo Las Vegas places the incident a day earlier, on Oct. 28, near the same 6000 block of West Cheyenne Avenue, around 8:17 p.m. The exact date has not been independently confirmed.

The two outlets also differ on exactly how the confrontation played out. Per the station's report, police said the suspect distracted the clerk, took merchandise, and tried to run out of the store — and that he punched the clerk when confronted. Telemundo's account, however, states that it was the employee who confronted the suspect and threw the punch before the suspect fled the store with the stolen goods. Neither version has been independently verified, and Hoodline is presenting both as reported.

What Police Say the Suspect Looks Like

Investigators describe the suspect as a Black male between 16 and 19 years old, with short, curly brown hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hoodie with white writing on the front and back, along with black pants featuring a white design, the same report notes. No name or arrest has been announced in connection with the case.

Police have not disclosed the identity of the store involved, what specific merchandise was taken, or whether anyone was injured in the confrontation. Those details remain unconfirmed as the investigation continues.

How to Submit a Tip

Anyone with information is asked to call the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Commercial Robbery Section at (702) 828-3591. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can instead contact Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555 or submit information through its website. Tips that directly lead to an arrest or indictment processed through Crime Stoppers may result in a cash reward.

This is not the first time police in the area have turned to the public for help identifying a robbery suspect. A separate case from June drew a similar appeal from investigators in a northwest Las Vegas robbery reported by FOX5 Vegas, while a different incident last year in the east valley involved a suspect accused of punching and choking an employee. No connection between those cases and this one has been established.
