A Korean tasting-menu restaurant tucked into a Murray Hill brownstone just became the only American name on one of fine dining's most closely watched rankings. Atomix climbed to No. 11 on The 50's 2026 list, and according to reservation platform Tock, every single seat for the rest of the year is already spoken for.

The 2026 rankings were unveiled Wednesday night at the Municipal Theater in Lima, Peru, where Asador Etxebarri in Spain's Basque region took the top spot, according to The New York Times. Atomix rose from No. 12 the previous year to No. 11 this time around, and the Times reported that for the first time, it was the only American restaurant to crack the top 50. Single Thread in Healdsburg, California, was the lone other U.S. entry on the extended list, holding steady at No. 93, per the same report.

A Husband-and-Wife Kitchen Behind the Buzz

Atomix is run by husband-and-wife team Junghyun (JP) and Ellia Park, who oversee the kitchen and dining room respectively, according to The World's 50 Best Restaurants. The restaurant, located at 104 East 30th Street in Rose Hill, serves what the organization describes as one of the most progressive Korean tasting menus outside of Seoul. Beyond the main dining room, the World's 50 Best Restaurants notes that Atomix has an upstairs bar serving craft cocktails and signature snacks, including JP's sticky rice-stuffed fried chicken wings.

Diners hoping to snag one of those seats are finding the door firmly shut. Tock's reservation page for Atomix stated plainly that all reservations have been sold, and the platform listed the restaurant's Chef's Counter experience at $424 per person, including the administrative fee, alongside a Bar Tasting Experience priced at $314 per person with the same fee included.

New York's Only Entry in a Global Field

The ranking puts Atomix in rarefied company. Gaggan in Bangkok landed at No. 2, Quintonil in Mexico City took No. 4, and Kjolle came in at No. 7, according to Time Out New York. That outlet also noted Atomix's climb followed its debut at number 12 the previous year. The 50 polls the world's top hospitality experts in compiling its guides, and Atomix is now the sole U.S. establishment to appear on the list.

The scramble for a table isn't new. As the New York Post reported, Atomix does not accept walk-ins or offer gratuities, though it does let hopeful diners sign up for virtual notifications if a table opens. The restaurant is a Michelin two-star establishment that was founded in 2008, and its menu has included dishes such as honeysuckle sikhye, lamb saddle with neungi mushrooms, dubu mu and gosari rice, per the same report.

JP Park serves as Atomix's executive chef while Ellia Park manages the restaurant, and the couple co-founded Na:eun Hospitality, which also includes Atoboy, Naro and Seoul Salon, according to the Post's reporting. The outlet also cited a food creator known as Janie DeVours, who posted that she had spent three years trying to land an Atomix reservation and called the eventual meal her best in New York City, a post that drew more than 173,000 likes. Another diner, Kaitlyn Lavery, described Atomix as one of the best restaurants in the world.
