OnPath Credit Union is packing up its Metairie headquarters and heading across the lake, with plans to build a new corporate campus on 5.5 acres in Mandeville. The move is expected to bring roughly 143 employees to St. Tammany Parish, with room built in for future hiring, and OnPath is targeting completion by the first quarter of 2027.
A New Home on Causeway Approach
The new headquarters will sit at 1625 W. Causeway Approach in Mandeville, according to New Orleans CityBusiness. The facility is designed to consolidate administrative leadership, member support teams and specialized operations departments under one roof, a shift meant to improve coordination between departments and strengthen service for members. The outlet reported that OnPath plans to invest $18.2 million in the project, though the credit union itself did not disclose the project's total investment cost, according to the same report's seed facts — a discrepancy worth noting as more details emerge.
OnPath says the campus will also feature updated workplace technology alongside the centralized operations setup. Current branch customers shouldn't notice any disruption in the meantime: the credit union's existing branch network will remain operational throughout the headquarters relocation, and the report did not specify the number of additional jobs the project might eventually create.
Why Mandeville, Why Now
OnPath President and CEO Jared Freeman said the company's recent growth showed it needed a facility built to support expanding operations. He added that the new campus gives OnPath room to scale its teams, improve collaboration, and elevate service to members and the broader community. The Mandeville site is also expected to help OnPath recruit employees from both Greater New Orleans and the Northshore, widening the labor pool beyond its current Metairie footprint.
The project is expected to generate $12.9 million in annual payroll, per OnPath senior vice president Candace Washington Theodore. OnPath describes itself as a member-owned nonprofit financial cooperative offering personal banking, lending and other financial services, and the credit union says it has served Southeast Louisiana since 1961. It now counts more than 100,000 members and $1.51 billion in assets, according to OnPath, making it Louisiana's fourth-largest credit union.
Parish Officials Welcome the Investment
St. Tammany Parish officials framed the relocation as a vote of confidence in the parish's business climate. Parish President Mike Cooper said OnPath's relocation reflects economic opportunity and the strength of the parish's business environment and workforce. Mandeville Mayor Clay Madden said the project will bring activity to an existing property and contribute to regional economic development.
Russell Richardson, president and CEO of the St. Tammany Economic Development Corp., said OnPath's long presence in Southeast Louisiana makes the parish well suited for its expanded operations, adding that the organization welcomes the credit union's headquarters to St. Tammany given its deep roots in the region. The economic development corporation said its announcements this year represent more than $177.4 million in capital investment and 1,137 new and retained jobs across the parish.
Part of a Broader Expansion Push
The Mandeville move follows a string of growth moves for OnPath. In January, the credit union acquired nearly one acre along Camellia Boulevard near River Ranch as part of its expansion into Lafayette, as previously reported by CityBusiness. And last year, OnPath announced it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Heritage Bank of St. Tammany, a federally chartered savings bank headquartered in Covington, according to a statement from OnPath Credit Union.
Those moves, paired with the new Mandeville campus, point to a credit union steadily building out its footprint across Southeast Louisiana and beyond. An OnPath spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the relocation, per the CityBusiness report.
