A 39-year-old Ontario, New York woman is facing a felony charge after state police said she sent sexually explicit videos of herself to a child she was babysitting back in 2022. Rebecca E. Lawn was charged on Nov. 4 with second-degree disseminating indecent material to a minor, following a report that reached investigators just weeks earlier.

According to 13WHAM, state police said Lawn sent the explicit videos to the child while she was serving as the child's babysitter in 2022. Police said the report that triggered the investigation came in on Oct. 12, according to the station's account of the case.

Court Date Set for Mid-November

Lawn was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Sodus Town Court on Nov. 18, a date confirmed on the New York State Police website, which listed the appearance ticket as returnable to the Town of Sodus Court. Ontario sits in Wayne County, east of Rochester along Lake Ontario, a rural stretch of the state where the case has drawn local attention, as first reported by Syracuse.com.

Police said Lawn was returned to the Wayne County Jail following her arrest, where she was already being held on unrelated charges, per the same account from the station. Jail records indicated those separate charges included petit larceny and misuse of food stamps, and that she was being held without bail on those counts, which are distinct from the disseminating indecent material charge described in the report.

A Previous Case Involving Teens

This is not the first time Lawn has faced accusations involving minors in Wayne County. In a separate case reported by the Times of Wayne County, state police accused Lawn of supplying alcohol and marijuana to three teenagers for more than a year, beginning in September 2023.

That report reached state police on Aug. 29, 2024, according to the Times of Wayne County, which said the matter came to light in late July 2024. Lawn was charged in that case with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, the outlet reported.
