North Charleston's Park Circle neighborhood will fill with music and market stalls on Saturday, Nov. 14, as Shakedown Jam holds its second annual Park Circle Block Party from noon to 5 p.m. The free, family-friendly event pairs live bands with a sprawling vendor marketplace, and organizers say proceeds support a Lowcountry nonprofit focused on music education for kids.

According to Holy City Sinner, Grateful Dead cover band The Reckoning will perform from 1 to 4 p.m. at the courtyard stage, while Robert Corbett's Just Groove bookends the day, playing from noon to 1 p.m. and again from 4 to 5 p.m. The lineup and schedule were also detailed in a Post and Courier report, which noted attendees can expect live music, vendor browsing, food and drink, and dancing throughout the afternoon.

A Street Full Of Local Makers

The street in front of Commonhouse Aleworks will transform into what organizers are calling a Shakedown Street marketplace, packed with regional artisans, makers, boutiques and specialty vendors, per the same Holy City Sinner report. Confirmed vendors include Bright Star Designs, Cannon Street Apothecary, Brass Earth, Em's Crochet and King of Pops, alongside a long roster of other local sellers spanning tie-dye, glass art, engraving and crochet goods, according to the Post and Courier's account of the vendor lineup.

The marketplace is meant to give shoppers a reason to linger between sets, turning the block party into as much a community shopping event as a concert. Attendees can explore vendors, eat and drink, dance to the bands, and support a local cause all in the same afternoon, the Post and Courier reported.

Music Education As The Cause

That local cause is Rock N Roll Rescue, described on its own site as a Lowcountry nonprofit dedicated to giving children access to music education. The group says it provides musical instruments and support to kids ages 9 to 14 in the Charleston area, especially those in underserved schools and neighborhoods, according to Rock N Roll Rescue.

The organization partners with the Charleston County School District in an effort to remove barriers to entry for Lowcountry kids who want to play music, the nonprofit states. It says it accepts gently used instruments and refurbishes them, or purchases new ones outright, per the group's own description of its work.

That mission has already produced at least one documented donation. The Charleston County School District reported that Rock N Roll Rescue donated six brand-new instruments, valued at $2,845 and including a flute, a clarinet, a tuba, a tenor saxophone and two alto saxophones, to students at Baptist Hill Middle and High School on Sept. 12, 2025. The district's announcement also noted additional donations were planned for 2026.

Planning A Visit

Shakedown Jam's organizers frame the block party as a chance to foster creativity, inspire young musicians and make music accessible to the next generation, according to Rock N Roll Rescue's stated goals. With free admission and a full day of music and shopping built around that mission, organizers are positioning the Nov. 14 gathering as a community staple in Park Circle for a second straight year.
