A 16-year-old boy has not been seen since Friday evening in Pico Rivera, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is calling his disappearance a critical missing person case. Michael Sanchez was last seen around 5:30 p.m. in the 9300 block of Sierra Vista Circle, wearing a gray hoodie and black jeans, and investigators are now asking anyone with information to come forward.
According to MyNewsLA, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department asked the public Sunday to look out for Sanchez, describing his case as critical. The outlet reports that Sanchez is Hispanic, stands 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighs 135 pounds, with bushy brown hair, brown eyes, and glasses.
What Deputies Know So Far
Beyond the teen's last known location and the clothing he was wearing when he disappeared, few details about the circumstances of his disappearance have been made public. The report does not include information about where Sanchez may have been headed, who last spoke with him, or whether investigators have identified any leads since Friday.
Sheriff's officials urged anyone with helpful information to contact Detective Arteaga or the sheriff's Pico Rivera station at 562-949-2421, per the same account. No additional contact details or a photograph of Sanchez were included in the information released so far.
A Pattern of Missing-Person Alerts in Pico Rivera
Sanchez's case adds to a string of missing-person alerts issued out of Pico Rivera in recent months. In September, authorities sought the public's help locating 78-year-old Secundino Robert Martinez, who was described as at-risk because of cognitive impairment, according to MyNewsLA.com. Days later, the outlet also reported that deputies were searching for 71-year-old Ignacio Guzman Rodriguez, last seen in the evening on the 8000 block of Mines Ave in the same city, according to a separate MyNewsLA.com report.
The sheriff's department has also used social media to publicize missing juvenile cases tied to the broader Pico Rivera and Whittier area, including a prior alert for a different critical missing juvenile shared by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department on X.
No further updates on Sanchez's whereabouts have been released. Residents in the Sierra Vista Circle area and anyone who may have seen the teen since Friday evening are encouraged to reach out to investigators.
