A 14-year-old girl has been missing since last Thursday evening after she was last seen walking on foot in the Buckley area, prompting state and county authorities to issue a public alert asking for help finding her. Annabelle Long was last spotted around 7 p.m. on October 29, and her direction of travel afterward is unknown.
The Washington State Patrol activated a Missing Indigenous Person Alert, or MIPA, on behalf of the Pierce County Sheriff's Office, according to WSP Missing Person Alerts
. The alert describes Long as 5 feet tall and 125 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, though her clothing at the time she went missing is listed as unknown.
A Pierce County Sheriff's Office spokesperson told the Tacoma News Tribune that Long was walking in the area of 238th Avenue Court East when she was last seen. The newspaper's report confirms the same timeline laid out in the state patrol's alert, placing her disappearance at roughly 7 p.m. that Thursday.
What Investigators Are Asking the Public to Do
Anyone who spots Long is urged to call 911 immediately, per the alert. The Pierce County Sheriff's Office has also listed a nonemergency line, 253-287-4455, for the public to reach investigators with information, and the case has been assigned number 2630201979.
The alert was shared from the account used by the state patrol for its active public safety notices, which the agency describes as covering Amber, Silver, Endangered Missing Person and Missing Indigenous Person alerts. Washington State Patrol activates these alerts only at the request of local law enforcement, meaning Thursday's notice was issued specifically because the Pierce County Sheriff's Office sought it out.
Limited Details So Far
Beyond the basic physical description and last-known location, authorities have not released further details about Long's disappearance, including what she may have been wearing or any additional circumstances surrounding her absence. The search remains centered on the Buckley area, a small community in eastern Pierce County, where she was last seen on foot before contact was lost.
