A Pike County man will spend the rest of his life in prison after a jury convicted him on 26 felony counts tied to the sexual abuse and exploitation of a child. Andre Ghee was sentenced to an aggregate prison term of 142 to 146 years following a four-day trial that concluded Oct. 22.

The sentence was announced by the Pike County Prosecutor’s Office in a press release, as reported by the Scioto Valley Guardian. The convictions included sexual battery, pandering obscenity involving a minor, pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor, and endangering children, according to the same release. Pike County Prosecuting Attorney Michael A. Davis and Assistant Prosecutor Matt Brady tried the case on behalf of the state of Ohio.

During the trial, jurors considered testimony and evidence that prosecutors said painted a detailed picture of the abuse. The victim testified at the trial, and prosecutors presented witness testimony, medical evidence, extensive digital communications, photographs and videos, and forensic evidence recovered from electronic devices and online service providers, the Scioto Valley Guardian reported.

Digital Evidence Called Critical to Conviction

Investigator Alan Wheeler examined the digital evidence in the case and explained it to the jury, work the prosecutor’s office described as critical to securing the conviction, per the same account. The office also recognized Amy White for her preparation work throughout the case, while Brady contributed to both the preparation and presentation of the case at trial.

The Pike County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and the Garden Advocacy Center all assisted throughout the case, according to the release. The prosecutor’s office also thanked its staff for preparing and presenting the case and thanked the jurors for their service.

Victim’s Identity Will Remain Protected

The prosecutor’s office said it will not release identifying information about the victim in order to protect her privacy and dignity. Officials said the sentence protects both the victim and the community, according to the prosecutor’s office.

The case was also covered by The Highland County Press, which detailed the sentencing of the defendant in the Pike County sexual battery case. With the 142-to-146-year term handed down, Ghee is expected to remain in prison for the remainder of his life.
